Anyone who wishes to become a lifeguard and is at least 18 years old may apply, as well as anyone interested in learning essential first-aid techniques for drowning, CPR, victim assessment, or water rescue. Upon registration, participants will be assessed for their swimming ability and physical endurance.
Basic swimming lessons, lifeguard training, victim rescue techniques, transport in water, extraction from water, proper conduct—how to approach a drowning person based on their position, how to handle a violent victim, release techniques in cases of entanglement or panic, first aid techniques, self-rescue techniques, swimming fully clothed, survival in shipwreck conditions.
Lifeguard training courses consist of 180 hours for pool training and 720 hours for open-water training, and are held for 8 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week. Alternatively, for those who wish to learn only the basics of first aid, there is a special 40-hour module. At the end of each course, assessment tests are administered, and the certification obtained is recognized nationwide.
Lifeguard certification is essential for working legally at any swimming pool, water park, or recreational facility. It is also required to volunteer at aquatic competitions and events. The certification enhances your resume, and through our Job Center, you can apply immediately after graduation to join the SALVALIFE team.
